I PowerMac più recenti (dalla metà del 1998 in poi) usano
<command>yaboot</command> come boot loader. Il programma d'installazione
configura <command>yaboot</command> automaticamente, l'unico requisito è
la presenza di una piccola partizione da 820 kB di tipo
<emphasis>Apple_Bootstrap</emphasis> con nome <quote>bootstrap</quote>,
questa partizione viene creata in precedenza dal componente di
partizionamento. Se questo passo si conclude correttamente allora è
possibile fare l'avvio dal proprio disco e OpenFirmware è configurato
per far partire &debian-gnu;.
